Mr Gopikanthan Manoharan
Mr Gopikanthan Manoharan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in shoulder, elbow, and upper limb conditions.
Mr Manoharan completed his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Birmingham in 2009. He completed his orthopaedic training on the prestigious Oswestry training programme and completed his fellowship in Liverpool. He was awarded a Master's degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University in 2017, equipping him with advanced knowledge of biomechanics and surgical innovation. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Staffordshire, reflecting his commitment to teaching and mentoring within the medical field.
Throughout his postgraduate training he has received awards for his commitment to orthopaedics. He received the Lloyd-Griffiths medal for his involvement in teaching and training, the Professor’s medal for research, the BT O’Connor cup and the Naughton Dunn prize.
Mr Manoharan is a member of several professional bodies, including the General Medical Council (GMC), the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the British Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
With a focus on delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care, he treats a wide range of upper limb orthopaedic issues. He offers open and keyhole procedures including shoulder rotator cuff repair, decompression for impingement, shoulder stabilisation, shoulder and elbow replacement, carpal tunnel decompression, ulnar nerve decompression, trigger finger release and steroid injections.
